Rolling Ridge :: DEVELOPMENTS

Rolling Ridge Colony is located in the west end of South Russell Village. This subdivision is located between Bell Road and East Washington Street. It has the only primary connector road, Daisy Lane, connecting Bell Road with East Washington Street in the west end of the village.

First developed by Cedric Morrison, Rolling Ridge Colony was plotted in four sections.

Plot I on May 3, 1955 was the north end of Daisy Lane from Bell Road to Woodside Road. At this time there was no dedicated road from the development to Bell Road, only an access road.

The second plot on May 4, 1955 was Daisy Lane from East Washington Street (then State Route 422) and the south end section of Woodside Road.

The third plot was on August 9, 1955 that included the north end of Woodside Road and Forest Drive.

In 1955, the developer of Rolling Ridge Colony, Cedric Morrison, deeded to The Village of South Russell the land first used as the access/ service road to the development off Bell Road and the village continued Daisy Lane through to Bell Road as a dedicated road. This was the result from years of safety issues involving the safety forces (police and fire), maintenance of the road by the service department and East Washington Street and an issue with the Chagrin Falls School System and their school bus safety issues.

On August 1,1957 plot IV that is Deerfield Drive was accepted. This is only the west end of Deerfield Drive (just off Daisy Lane) and not the cul-de-sac. Later, in 1989, Deerfield Estates that includes the lots on the cul-de-sac was developed. See Deerfield Estates Subdivision.

In November 1960, all roads were paved in the development including the extension from Daisy Lane to Bell Road.

On January 18, 1961, Daisy Lane, Woodside Road, Deerfield Drive and Forest Drive were dedicated as village roads.

There are 71 homes in this subdivision that does not include the four homes on Deerfield in Deerfield Estates. See Deerfield Estates.

Voting is in Precinct C that is located at Gurney School.

Geauga County sanitary sewers service this area but all homes are currently on wells.
