LITTLE KNOWN OTHERS
The Village of South Russell owns several other parcels of land throughout the village. Each parcel has been used for different reasons at different times throughout the history of South Russell. Most were purchased or deeded for specific reasons.
Daisy Lane Extension
The village of South Russell was deeded .60 acre of land from Cedric Morrison as the Rolling Ridge Colony was developed. This land connected Daisy Lane to Bell Road making it a through road from East Washington Street. As the roads in the development became paved and dedicated to the village, so did this section of roadway that was first used as an access road to the development from Bell Road.
The Old Water Treatment Plant
Located in the southern section of Southwyck Lakes, southwest of Chelsea Court, these 5.44 acres of land was first used as a water treatment plant for the South Russell Sewer District. After the Geauga County McFarland Sewer District was developed, the treatment plant was abandoned and removed in 1990.
The Bellwood Pump Station
South Russell Village owns a small parcel of property, .18 acre, in the Bellwood Acres development. In 1998, when the Geauga County sanitary sewers were installed in the development, South Russell allowed Geauga County to place their pump station on this parcel. At one time, this parcel of land was considered to be used as a connector road out of Bellwood to another development in Russell Township. This idea was later rejected.
